On Wednesdays We Wear Pink!

Happy Mean Girls Day! Y'all better be wearing pink, because this also happens to be a Wednesday!

My sister was not in good spirits this morning, and snapped an angry "My underwear is pink!" when I asked why in the world she wasn't wearing anything pink. But don't worry, I'm being festive today!

Not to mention not one person at work knew that it was today, so I'm flying solo in my pink-ness.

I really want to go a little nuts and post a bunch of gifs here, because gifs are the bomb.com but I shall refrain because my entire blogger dash is filled with Mean Girls stuff today.

Oh, and for the record I'm changing things up a bit. LDLW will cease to exist, sort of. I just won't do it strictly on Wednesdays, so expect a post about that tomorrow instead. I don't like having to dedicate one specific day to it. I know, boo you whore. And so, I hope you all have a great day!

TIOT: Inspiration and Motivation

Happy Tuesday! It's time for the weekly fitness check in. We're not going to talk about what happened when I stepped on the scale, because it's depressing and we're just not going to go there. Okay? Okay.

(I just want you all to know, this is my first scheduled post :O I couldn't wait until Tuesday to write this)

Allieology

On Sunday, I started going through clothes to see what I wanted to keep and get rid of, and it kind of took a bad direction. I was trying things on, and noticing that some things I had worn last summer really didn't fit me now. So out of curiosity, I stepped on the scale two days early. After my self esteem took a nose dive, I gave up on finishing my cleaning project and opted to hang out on Pinterest pinning all sorts of fitness stuff. Even though cleaning my room would have been more of a workout than pinning stuff. I never said I was perfect.

Later that night, after I had settled in bed for the night, I was browsing Facebook on my phone when I came across this video that I had seen a while back, but had forgotten about. I really  believe that after the mood I had sunk into, this video came across my news feed for a reason. I started crying like a minute in, because what this guy has to say really has an impact on me and I hope that it helps some of you guys too who are also struggling with this journey.

If you guys are anything like me, grab some tissues.

I hope you guys take the 5 minutes to watch this, because it's so very worth it. I woke up feeling better about myself, more determined to make this fitness thing happen and I don't want to give up. If Arthur can do it, in his condition, I can certainly do it too.

I'm thinking about the dedication and commitment he must have had, and it's amazing. Looking at myself, I honestly don't think I could have kept with it. I probably would have given up and just suffered through life. And that's something I have to work on, the mental stength to be dedicated to something so much that you don't give up. Everyone talks about the physical strength involved in weight loss, but there's so much more mental strength that you need as well.

I hope this video helped, because it really helped me. Have a good Tuesday everyone!

Hang It Up!

Morning everyone! Hope you guys had a good weekend. I wasn't sure if I was going to put anything up today, but I just had an experience I thought was worth sharing.

Cell phones are great, right? We can shoot messages to people, we can call people and check our social media pages right from our phones. It's pretty spiffy. But some people don't know when to stop.

So yes, this is a bit of a rant, but I'm also hoping that the people that do this take this to heart.

I work in a credit union, as a member service representative, or a glorified teller. Most of the time I work in the back in the drive thru. And just now, like she literally just pulled away, I had to deal with this lady on her cell phone.

Even though I work in a more professional place than a fast food restaurant, I'm still in customer service. I deal with members all day long, some of them on cell phones. Guys, I need to be able to talk to you. There are questions I have to ask you, plus it's expected of me to be personable with members. That includes asking them how their day is going, listening to how they have a surgery coming up, all that stuff. I can't do that if you're yacking on your cell phone.

Some people don't think it's a big deal, but it's the most annoying and irriating thing that you can possibly do. And the best part is that people get upset with me when I try to talk to them and they're on the phone. Sometimes I have to bite my tongue so I don't say something stupid like "You're the one who came in here, not me. If you want to talk, wait until you're done to come in!"

I really appreciate the people who tell the person they're on the phone with that they'll call them back in a minute, or set their phone down. The best is when they just hand me a bunch of money and don't give me a name or account number or where they want the money to go. Oh, are you giving me a tip?! How thoughtful of you! And then when I ask who they are, they get irritated with me. Sorry I forgot to bring my crystal ball into work with me today!

I'm going to stop now, because I could write about this all day long. I try not to complain too much here, this is supposed to be a positive outlet for me, but sometimes I just can't help it. And if this post helps someone realize that yacking on their cell phone while at a bank or whatever is incredibly rude, then I helped to keep someone in customer service sane. Have a great day, everyone, and always remember to be considerate!

Book Review: Perfect Chemistry

Happy Saturday! First off, if you haven't noticed already, my blog has a new design! I'm basically done with it, just a couple little things here and there that I'm tweaking, and I'm also working on an About Me page (finally!).

I know I haven't posted too much about the books I've read, and I kind of suck at reviews because I love everything I read. I tend to focus more on the story and plot than how it was written. But I love gushing about books that I love way too much to never do any reviews at all, so today I'm doing that.

Last night I finished the book Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles, and I really fell in love with it. I found a copy at a library book sale, and the synopsis on the back left me thinking it would be a decent read, although I didn't pick it up for a while. Here's the synopsis via Amazon.com:

"When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created "perfect" life is about to unravel before her eyes. She's forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she's worked so hard for-her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect. Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more. In a passionate story about looking beneath the surface, Simone Elkeles breaks through the stereotypes and barriers that threaten to keep Brittany and Alex apart."

I really did enjoy it, it was fast paced and kept me interested. Some things sounded a little corny, like when Alex admires Brittany's "smokin' bod", but other than that, it was well written. It's a good YA romance, but beneath that, it's a story about bridging the gap and accepting other people for who they are. It was easy to fall in love with Alex, the poor misunderstood boy who is doing what he has to in order to protect his family. The loyalty and devotion of this guy was unbelievable. And Brittany, what she's willing to go through in order to be with the guy she loves. Not just the judgment of the "popular crowd" at their high school, but the danger of being with a "gangbanger". I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good love story that has a side of danger and action.

There are two other books in this series, focusing on each of the Fuentes boys. I haven't read them yet, but I'll make sure to review those too when I get around to them. And I'll leave it at that - I don't want to spoil the whole book for you guys!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Calling All Bloggers!

Did that get your attention? Awesome! Happy Friday peeps, time to celebrate the end of another week. I have a couple of quick things to throw at you guys.

First of all, if anyone follows my Twitter, then you might know I've been working on a new design for this little ol' blog here. I wanted to start changing it up today, but since I'm at work and don't have all of my files saved on this computer, it'll have to wait. Either way, by the end of tomorrow it should be done. I'm going to apologize in advance to anyone who comes to visit my little corner of the internet and things looks all wonky. I promise it'll look great by tomorrow night.

Secondly, I have (what I think is) a great idea for a one-time link up. Only problem is that I don't have too many followers to broadcast this to, so if anyone is interested, please hit me up somewhere on one of the many social media outlets out there. I think this could be a fun one.

Short and sweet today, and I'll leave you with a #backthatazzup Friday linkup with the wonderful Whit.

This week's song was inspired by the 69cent song list on iTunes. Short story: I was running at the gym, and went to buy one song on iTunes, and then I decided to look at the 69cent songs, aaand I ended up buying like 6 songs including this one, which was one of my favorites when I was in middle school. Enjoy:

My Weekend In Michigan

Hi everyone! It's been a few days, but I've been pretty occupied. As you guys know (or hoping you do), I just spent a long weekend over in Michigan with Dan. I had a great time, we both did. We did a whole bunch of stuff and I took a ton of pictures. I got back last night, much to my dismay, and today is back to the grind at work, which I'm not looking forward to at all. I'd rather drive the 7 hours back to stay with him again. Anyway, getting off subject, here's a big ol' bunch of pictures I took.

When I first got there on Wednesday night, we just kind of hung out together and soaked in the fact that we were actually physically together, which was perfect. The next day, he took me on a walk around the campus, and we ended up walking around the disc golf course. Of course it still looked like November was in swing with the trees still working on blossoming, but that was okay. It was beautiful outside. Along the way, we found some Iron Man mask laying on the ground, so of course we had to take pictures :)

Thursday was also Dan's birthday, so while he went to class later that day, I made him a birthday cake. And also discovered that I'm not too great with making cakes. Cupcakes turn out great, but cakes don't seem to like me.

He invited some of his friends over, and we sang happy birthday, had some cake (which still tasted great, I might add) and then we all went out to dinner and then went bowling. I sucked, of course, but it was still a good time.

Friday we actually played disc golf this time, and later went out to eat at one of my favorite restaurants over there, Lockharts. They have every kind of barbecue you could ask for and it always tastes delicious. Remind me next time to get pictures.

On Saturday we headed off to a Detroit Tigers game downtown, which was a blast! We won, 5-2. Only negative, we both got sunburnt.

The stadium is pretty neat, it has tigers all over the place, plus the big one out in front that everyone was trying to get a picture in front of. After the game we managed to get up there and snap a few shots (bottom left). I've never been to a baseball game before, but it was enough to get me interested.

After the game, we decided to walk around Detroit a little, just to see a few things within the area of the stadium.

It's pretty funny, there's this big bobble head of Pavel Datsyuk (a Red Wings player for those of you that know hockey) just hanging out in the middle of this place, along with this goofy fish head that's right across from the Detroit Opera House. New goal: go to the Opera House one day. It's hard to see, but the top left picture is of the GM building in Detroit. We could see it from the front of the stadium. The top middle is the corner of the Opera House with this big mural of whales on the side of another building. The middle left is this nifty statue that is normally a fountain when it's nice outside. The dead center picture is the Fox Theatre, and the one below it is the Fillmore, right next to each other. The bottom right is the Motor City casino, which lights up all different colors at night. I actually really like Detroit, and I wish people knew more about the awesome things to see versus all the bad stuff they hear on the news.

Later that night, Dan and I got all dressed up for a date night at Maggiano's. It's by far one of my favorite restaurants. And yes, we do match. We were both wearing teal.

Being the new 21 year old that he is, Dan ordered his first glass of wine with dinner... and hated it. It wasn't too great, I had to help him finish it. Overall, though, the food was excellent and our waiter was a pretty cool guy. It was a really nice, romantic night.

Sunday was Easter, so we got dressed up again and went to this cute little church I found in the area. It was good to go, and I really liked it. It was very small, but comfortable. Everyone there was nice, and the pastor took a moment to say hi and talk with us a little. After that, we decided to go to IHOP for breakfast, where we had these yummy crepes. And I learned that it's a thing for Fin people to call them skinny pancakes. I never knew that before.

Quick funny story: when we got there, the place was packed and we had to wait a few minutes for a table, so the girl took down Dan's name, Dan K. While we were waiting, the greeters switched and when the guy called us up, instead of realizing that the K was the first letter of his last name, he called him Dank. I nearly lost it, and now it's a thing. I'm calling him Dank now.

Anyway, the crepes were delicious. I had never been to an IHOP before, so now I know that I need to find one around here to go to. After we got back, we hung out for a while and took a short nap before we dyed some Easter eggs and made dinner.

Dan eventually had to start working on his homework, and I read for a while before we went to bed. And then yesterday, Monday, I packed up my stuff and headed home. And let me tell you, driving there is one thing, driving home is a completely different story. Until I'm about an hour away, all I want to do is turn around and go back, and then after that all I want to do is get home so I can work on getting back to my life. But a 7 hour drive doesn't allow for that. I won't depress you with the trip home, not when there's all this stuff to look back on and smile about. It was a wonderful weekend, and I'm so glad I got to go.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter, as well! Have a great Tuesday, everyone!

A Delayed LDLW

Hi guys! So, I know this is a day late but I feel the need to share this all with you because this LDLW is a very big deal. And it doesn't even require a lengthy post! Or actually, too many words in general. This week, I just want to share a picture with you all. Are you ready?

Guess where I am!! Yes I took that this morning. Reunited and it feels soo gooooooood! Woo! I'm here for Dan's birthday, and I'm staying until Monday so we'll have a nice long weekend together. So if you guys will excuse me, I have some quality time to spend over here :) Have a good Thursday!

A Big Tuesday Mashup

Morning! I only have about 20 minutes to write this, so here we go. I haven't covered very much going on with me lately, and I have a bunch of pictures and stuff to post up. Starting last weekend. No, not two days ago weekend, but April 5th and 6th. Yes, that far back. Which is super behind for me.

So we went to Chicago for my uncle's funeral. Which was kind of a downer, but I didn't really know him at all so my sisters and I were really just there for moral support for my mom and grandma. It was really nice, though. I got to see my family that I only get to see every once in a while because they live in Chicago (wow, what a thought. Why else would I go down there?). My sister did this cool braid thing on me, which I need to learn how to do:

It's a french braid at the top and then she turned it into a fishtail braid. I thought that was pretty awesome. After the funeral, we all went out to eat and the restaurant was super nice. I wish I would have gotten pictures. The only reason I'm sharing this one is because I got such a kick out of it. I'm twenty years old, almost twenty-one, and I was ordering kiddie cocktails. Not real ones, but the kid kind. The Sprite soda with cherry juice.

I want to say I had about three of these. So after that, we cruised on down to see downtown Chicago before we headed back home. I was able to get a couple of cool shots, but nothing much. Anyway, enjoy the like, two pictures I got:

So that was really fun. I couldn't get too many pictures because I was too busy taking in the awesome sights. My sister got more, but I don't have any of them on my computer here. Anyway, moving on because I have about 5-10 minutes left here. A girl at work had a baby, and little Jenah is two months old now. Heather and I are pretty good friends, and I've been promoted to Auntie Sam (hehehe). So since Easter is this weekend, Heather wanted to get Jenah in to see the Easter Bunny. On Saturday we took her to one of the local malls around here and got her in the big bunny's lap. It was so freaking cute! Enjoy:

My favorite one :)

After that we walked around the mall a bit while I got some stuff. While we were in Victoria's Secret, the girls were hoarding us trying to see the baby. And plenty of them asked if she was mine. Hah, I wish. I know Heather looks like she could be my mom if she had me at 16, but no, Jenah isn't mine. It was cute though. After that we ended up in Clare's, and took advantage of their Easter things:

Isn't she adorable?! Okay, I have about a minute left here. Moving on.

Allieology

Tough it out Tuesday. Let's see. I've been tracking my calories, and doing a pretty good job. I really love the fact that if I do cardio I get extra calories back to eat. It's a good motivation. I will admit, I didn't go to the gym for like three days in a row, and I'm not going tonight. But based off of the whole 80/20 thing with diet to exercise, I'm okay. Since last week, I only lost .4 pounds, but hey, that's better than staying the same OR gaining. So I'm feeling pretty okay. I'm starting to wrap my head around the fact that I won't see many results for a while, even though it still sucks. Seriously, I've been eating so good and working out, I think I should be a stick by now. But that's why they call it hard work, because you actually have to work at it.

Okay, I have to get to work now for a big company meeting so I'll leave it at that. Oh, plus an announcement:

I'M SEEING DAN TOMORROW OHMYGOD!!

I leave tomorrow right after work, and I should be all wrapped up in his arms by tomorrow night :) Don't worry, I'll take plenty of pictures! Okay, have a good day guys!!

Top Ten Things I've Learned From Criminal Minds

Happy Friday! This week, I swear, took a million years and I'm so glad it's over! It's because I'm looking forward to next week, because I'll finally get to see Dan. (insert girly squeal here) And I'm so freaking anxious to get the heck out of this state already!

So I was checking out Kay's blog, and she had this awesome list of blog post ideas that I wanted to write about. So I'm going to go with number 26 and talk about the top ten things Criminal Minds has taught me. I absolutely love this show, so I thought this was a great post to do!

1. Don't become a prostitue or stripper. You will be targeted by psychos and murdered after being raped. How do I know this? About 75% of this show's episodes involve multiple murders of hookers.

2. Don't go anywhere by yourself at night, you will get kidnapped and tortured until you eventually get murdered.

3. If an FBI agent is pointing a gun at you and telling you to do something, you better do it. They won't hesitate to shoot.

4. Even people you think you know can turn out to be sick twisted whackos who like to kill people.

5. Any episodes that involve little kids will make you cry. Like a baby.

6. If you're investigating an area, don't split up and go by yourself. You'll end up like Reid and get tortured and drugged.

7. If you need to stop and stay the night somewhere, choose a relatively nice hotel. Not a creepy motel, because there are creeps who will probably molest you and kill you.

8. If you hear weird noises around the house, and you don't have a gun on you, get the hell out because that means there's someone in your house who wants to kill you and your family. OR if you come home and things looks odd and out of place, chances are someone is now in your house waiting for you to walk in so you should get out immediately.

9. Never ever ever ever get into your car without checking out the backseat, the trunk, underneath, everything. Because there will be someone there who wants to kill you.

10. If a man looks creepy, he is probably creepy and you should stay away because then you're going to become his target. And you don't want that.

Hah, that's a very paranoid list of things but hey, that's what the show has taught me. And I will add, ever since watching that show, I find myself profiling people. I don't know if my assumptions are right,  but according to the show I'm pretty good.

Well, I hope you awesome people have an awesome weekend! I'm also linking up with Whitt for #backthatazzup Friday! Enjoy!

LDLW: Why LDRs Suck

Good morning everyone. Today I was going to talk about why LDRs are good, but then last night/this morning happened and I decided I'm going to cover why they suck instead. A depressing turn, but I'm not feeling too happy right now. So, let's get a list together of why LDRs suck!

1. You are super dependent on technology.
If your phone isn't working, you can't talk to them. If your computer isn't working, you can't Skype them. And that really super sucks. Plus, people start making stupid comments about how you're always on your phone. Or how you are always ducking out to make a phone call. Or how you're declining plans to "sit in your room all night" because they don't understand the concept of a Skype date.

2. You and math suddenly become best friends.
If you're in an LDR, that usually means you are doing some kind of countdown. Counting the days until you get to see them, counting the days it's been since you've seen them. Counting the months that you've been apart anc counting how many more until you are together; counting the minutes until you have to pack up and go back home without them. It's like Sesame Street LDR edition.

(I don't necessarily agree with the fact that it gets easier, but it's not so depressing as you get closer to seeing them again)

3. When you're counting down, time goes too slow.
I'm experiencing this now. I'm going to see him next week, and it's taking soooooo looooong to get there!

4. And when you do get there, time goes too fast
This is the worst part. Visits are the absolute best, but you're also trying to forget about the fact that you have to pack up and leave eventually. I try to stay happy until the morning I have to leave. Otherwise you can't really enjoy yourself when you should be soaking up any and all time you have to spend with them.

5. If you get in a fight, you can't kiss and make up
This one. I'm going through this right now, since I'm a butt head and can't seem to keep my damn mouth shut when I know I'm not going to say nice things. The worst thing ever is fighting, and then not being able to make up. Well, you can make up but you have to go off of hearing "it's okay" and not getting a hug with that. Then you're left feeling like a shit, especially when they have to go for a bit right after that and you're left thinking the worst.

6. The drive/plane ride/bus ride home is agonizing.
I hate leaving, but the way home doesn't help either. Usually when I go see Dan, I drive. So when I come home, that means a 7 hour long car ride home, by myself, crying until I can't see the road. Driving through Chicago when you're crying is no picnic, let me tell you. After a few hours, I'm okay, but once I see the "Welcome to Wisconsin" sign, the waterworks start all over again. Partly because that means I'm almost home and I don't have to rely on my GPS, and partly because that means my trip is over and I have to go back to living without him.

There is a crap ton more reasons. I just can't think of them all right now. Next week I'll cover the original topic, why being in an LDR can be a good thing. I hope you guys have a great day.

Tough It Out Tuesday - I Have A New Plan

Allieology

Goooood morning darlings! Happy Tuesday! So, after a rough self esteem night because I'm not losing fast enough, my dad had to step in and get my head back down from the clouds. (Thanks, Dad, you rock!) I was upset because I wasn't losing anything, plus I'm PMSing like it ain't no body's business, so I'm all bloated and blehhh. Really, how much does that suck? Being a woman is just awesome sometimes. I digress.

So I've started tracking my calories, using the MyFitnessPal app on my phone and it's going fairly well, actually. It measured out how many calories I should eat a day based on my weight and height, so I'm on a bit of a schedule now. Aaaand I did my weekly weigh in and I've lost a pound! And hopefully this one will stay off because I lost one a while ago and then it came back. But if I keep tracking my calories, I should be losing a pound a week. So that, mixed with working out, hopefully there will be results.

I had to keep reminding myself that it takes a while to see results, and I still haven't measured myself yet. I need to find a bloody tape measure. But all in due time, first I'm trying to get on a regular schedule and stick with it. A work out schedule, that is. I was supposed to do triceps and chest yesterday, and I ended up doing a half hour on the arc trainer instead. So my legs feel great, but my arms are sad that they don't feel great too. So really I just wanted to talk about tracking my calories today, and that I've lost a pound so far. I don't have much else to give to you guys, my motivation comes and goes, and I'm continuously working towards my commitment to this. I'll get there guys, it just takes time. Patience has never been a friend of mine, you can ask my boyfriend that.

Pits and Peaks, The Lazy Edition

button

Wow, I kid you not, I started writing this at about 10 this morning. It's now 2:30 and I'm finally getting around to actually writing this. Talk about a busy day. Anywho, this is going to be short one because I'm feeling a bit lazy with my writing today. Plus, in about a half hour people are going to be getting off of work and coming here to get money because it's payday. SO let's make this quick.

Pits:

- I want to be in Michigan right nowwwww and time isn't going fast enough and ugh!! I just want to be there. Is that too much to ask for?

- I haven't lost any pounds yet. Which is frustrating, but I had some of the best support back on Tuesday regarding that.

- I spent a crap ton of money this morning. Sadly it was all on stuff I needed, but still. It sucks. But that's what payday is for, right?

Peaks:

- Payday! That's self explanatory.

- Two weeks from now I'll be with Dan!

- I saved up enough money in time for my trip to be able to do stuff while I'm in Michigan.

- I've been eating better and tracking my calories so hopefully that will start making the number on the scale go down.

- I'm going to Chicago this weekend! I love that city.

- I got a load of laundry done. Which is awesome because I was running out of clothes!

- We had a pizza day at work because of the great job we've been doing with cross sales and stuff!

So that's it for this week. Not a very long one, but still a post to link up with! Hope you guys have a great weekend!

Oh, and as a tribute to my destination tomorrow, let's enjoy a song by the band Chicago!
